Indiana Tax Appeal ("we," "us," or "our") provides automated property tax assessment analysis and appeal filing services for Indiana property owners. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our website and services.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address through your Google account. You may optionally provide a phone number. We never store or handle passwords — authentication is managed entirely through your Google account.
Property Data
When you search for a property, we retrieve assessment data, building characteristics, sale history, and comparable property information from public government records. This data is sourced from county assessor records and the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) — we do not collect private property information from you.
Payment Information
When you purchase a report or e-filing service, your payment is processed directly by our PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers. We retain a transaction identifier to link your payment to your account.
Usage Data
We collect information about how you use our service, including pages visited, property addresses searched, reports generated, and actions taken within your account.
Referral Data
If you were referred by another user or use a referral code, we track this relationship to administer our referral program.
How We Use Your Information
- Generate property tax appeal analysis using public county assessor records
- Produce Form 130 (State Form 53958) petitions with pre-filled evidence
- Process payments for PDF reports and e-filing services
- Send transactional emails including appeal status updates, filing deadline warnings, and invoices
- Improve our valuation models and comparable property selection algorithms
- Administer your account and respond to support requests
Data Sources
All property data used in our analysis is sourced from public government records, including:
- Indiana DLGF Real Property Assessment data
- County assessor property records across all 92 Indiana counties
- Indiana parcel boundary data
- Indiana Sales Disclosure Forms
Property assessment data is public record under Indiana's Access to Public Records Act (IC 5-14-3). We do not collect private property information beyond what is available in these public records.
Information Sharing
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Google: We use your Google account for sign-in authentication only.
- Payment processor: Your email, name, and payment amount are shared with our payment processor to complete transactions.
- Email service provider: Your email address and first name are shared with our email service provider to deliver transactional notifications (appeal updates, deadline warnings, invoices).
- County PTABOA: When you choose to file an appeal, your Form 130 petition and supporting evidence are submitted to the appropriate county Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Data Retention
- Account and appeal records are retained for the duration of your account.
- Property analysis reports are stored with version history so you can access prior analyses.
- Payment records are retained as required by applicable financial regulations.
- You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
Data Security
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS with TLS encryption.
- Our database is protected with industry-standard security and role-based access controls.
- We never store or handle passwords — authentication is managed through your Google account.
- Session data is stored in secure, HTTP-only cookies.
- Payment card data is processed directly by our PCI-DSS compliant payment processor and never touches our servers.
Indiana-Specific Provisions
- Property assessment data used in our analysis is public record under Indiana's Access to Public Records Act (IC 5-14-3).
- Income and expense data submitted as part of an income capitalization appeal is confidential under IC 6-1.1-35-9 and must be verified under penalties of perjury.
- We comply with all applicable Indiana data protection requirements.
